Christian Louboutin Shoes, Are They Right for Me?

The man behind the designs!

Christian Louboutin the brand, is basically a house-hold name. Although Louboutin’s shoes are made for both women and men, the vast majority of sales and production are for women. This product line has come an incredibly long way, in a relatively short period of time. Why? In order to answer this question proficiently we must look at the history of the man behind the designs. Louboutin was born in France in 1963, and at the age of 12 already knew the direction of his life’s work. I believe most of us would agree, at this tender age, we probably had many different career path ideas and endless childhood indecision. At age sixteen, young Christian was already working in his desired field. He was hired as an apprentice, sketching designs for women’s shoes. During those early years, he viewed himself as a rebel, partially due to his skin tone, as he was “much darker” than the rest of his family (he has three siblings). He concedes to feeling as though he’d been adopted. Clearly, his original designs would support the notion of unconventionality. The list of design-houses he worked for, are a who’s who, in the world of high-end women’s leather products. As a contractual designer, Louboutin had relationships with YSL, Charles Jourdan, and Roger Vivier to name a few. In his teens he traveled extensively, to learn more about the world’s cultures. He has altered the manner in which many shoe manufacturers market their products today.

Louboutin is changing the way many of these design houses are marketing their merchandise going forward. For years he has minimized the quantity of production associated with some of the trendy styles, and even some of the classic designs, creating a higher demand. This maneuver also supports an environment of exclusivity for his designs. This is the primary reason why the styles sell-out so rapidly. He will later revisit the design, and regain a market for them. It is not only smart, but works like a charm!!

During the ensuing years, Louboutin had disassociated himself from the women’s shoe industry and pursued a career in landscape gardening. This was a short-lived hiatus from his passion, and by 1991 he opened his first shoe store in Paris. It didn’t take long before complimentary remarks from European dignitaries propelled his business to the top of the latter in the fashion world. In 2008 Christian Louboutin secured the “red bottom” trademark in the USA. The brand sky-rocketed almost immediately, as word of his history of crafting shoes for British royalty went viral. Eventually American “media royalty”, helped turn Louboutin gold into platinum, following an early 2008 “Oprah” show appearance. After countless industry accolades and celebrity endorsements worldwide, extraordinary success loomed evident.

Louboutin’s approach to exclusivity not only impacts the styles but includes sizing and also his price points. The phrase toe-cleavage has become synonymous with many styles in his powerful arsenal of pumps. Creating this effect meant lowering the “vamp” (that part of the upper which covers the toes to the lower ankle) exposing the divisions between the toes. Subsequently, the design eliminates women with bunions (swelling of the first joint of big toe) or those with wide metatarsal bones (referred to as ball of the foot) from finding comfort with these designs. Moreover those with naturally chubby toes, attempting to wear these styles, may appear as though the shoe is to narrow and squeezing the foot together. This is not a stylish look. Women with narrow to medium size feet will enhance the toe-cleavage effect and have that sexy appearance. Most of the high-heeled platform peep-toe pumps follow this rule.

The desire to own these amazingly distinct designs entices some women to over-size the shoe. Within a very short period of time, (sometimes one or two outings) the shoe will stretch at the wrong pressure positions, and will begin to slip at the heel. Occasionally this problem can be addressed by having “halter pads”, (self adhesive forms placed just below the metatarsal area of the foot) applied to the shoe reducing the slippage. It doesn’t always work yet other options are virtually non-existent. Imagine paying $1500.00, at the medium to lower end of the price points, for a single wearing. To avoid fitting and sizing issues, resulting in pain and loss of capital, don’t ever over-size these shoes. Often you’ll notice women walking in these shoes with their feet pointed outward in opposite directions. Their shoes are not fitting properly, so they compensate by gripping the inside of the shoe with their toes, and “duck walking” to keep the shoes on their feet. This is not a comfortable method of wearing Louboutin shoes. The medium high-heels with closed rounded toe-boxes, will also have a low vamp, but will deliver more long-term comfort and wearability. Several options such as a “Maryjane” design, with a strap across the instep (upper middle arched area of the foot) may fit more securely and comfortably.

Platforms will level out the heels, in terms of reducing the foot’s pitch, but without a true fit your comfort level is diminished. Initially these shoes may fit snug and sometimes a bit cramped. The shoe will definitely stretch, even after the first wearing, adding more comfort. However, if they give you any real pain, don’t purchase that shoe. The shoes that are painful from the start, will never provide the comfort we all seek in our footwear. Purchase the size that you normally wear, and if the shoe doesn’t fit comfortably, find another style. Louboutin has many styles, shapes and heel sizes. “But that was the style I REALLY wanted”! Well it’s not the correct “last” (the last represents the anatomical shape of the foot) for your feet. The last of each style is different from the next, taking several variables into consideration. Be patient and try several styles to determine which shoe has the best last for you.

Louboutin’s sling-backs are also very beautiful and sexy. They are cut similarly to the pumps therefore the same sizing and fitting issues may apply. Try them on to determine if the strap around the back of your heel fits comfortably. His flat shoes and sandals are always elegant. They are fashion forward and a viable option for those unable to wear the high-heels. So take your time and try as many styles as it takes to find the comfort zone you deserve. Yes, Christian Louboutin shoes are for everyone, but identify the shoes that will provide adequate comfort, complimentary appearance, and that fabulous style.

Red Wing Boots: Wearing Them With Jeans

Red Wing shoes can be worn with jeans, in fact it is actively encouraged! Boot-cut style jeans look the best as their slightly flared bottoms give plenty of space to comfortably fit over the shoes and allow them to naturally show off their shape and form.

Generally speaking, you should avoid skinny-fit and slim-cut style jeans when you wear Red Wing shoes. Skinny jeans are designed to fit straight to your skin, giving no room for your boots or to move around in. One exception to this rule, is if you’re going for an alpine-punk look, in which case distressed skinnies would look great with your Red Wing shoes. If you have a pear shape body, or if your legs are a little chubby, you can wear slouchy or baggy jeans. Pear shaped and larger people should generally try to avoid skinny and tight jeans as they fit to your legs very tightly and so it’s a very unflattering look for them. If you’re in doubt, leave them out!

As mentioned at the beginning of this article, the best look comes from boot cut jeans as they have a slight flare at the bottom which allows even the largest models of Red Wing boots to fit snugly underneath. However, if you do not like boot cuts or feel that the weather is too hot or otherwise unsuitable for them, there are a couple of other options. Firstly, you can wear cropped jeans or pants – these are jeans that are designed so that they stop above your feet, often just three quarters of the way down your leg. When paired with Red Wing shoes, these will appear to stop just above where your shoe begins, giving a very natural looking transition from pants to shoes.

The second way of getting around the boot-cut jeans problem is to roll the bottoms up. This can be done on any style except for the tightest styles of jeans and pants, but is especially good on straight-cut jeans as they give an even roll-up. If your jeans are a raw denim style, dark color or feature a very distinctive or dominant selvage, it is already very on-trend and fashionable to wear your jeans with roll-ups. The best roll-ups are those about 3-4 inches in height, and sit just on the peak or slightly below the top of the shoe. If you are wearing Red Wing boots rather than shoes, take take to overlap a few inches of the boots as otherwise you will look unbalanced and disproportionate. If you’re wearing Red Wing shoes, feel free to wear the jeans rolled up so that they are sitting just above the top of the shoe.

If you’re wearing your Red Wing shoes in a casual way, be sure to accessorize correctly. Try to wear a belt that matches the shade of your boots or shoes. They need not be an exact match, but avoid mistakes like wearing a green belt with a mahogany colored shoe. If the weather demands it, do not forget to match up your outfit with a hat and scarf. If you are not sure what color your hat and scarves should be, try this to begin with. Match your scarf with your belt – the more exact the match the better. For the hat, you’ll need a similar (but not identical) color and a similar ‘spirit’. Extravagant scarves require extravagant hats. Do not match a 3-tone, goose feather, body-curler scarf with a blue and red baseball cap. Keep things simple to start with too. Once we you gain a little confidence you can start experimenting with different colors and styles. If you insist on wearing gloves, try to get those that match with the belt and scarf.

When shopping for Red Wing shoes, it is vital that you get the right size. They must not be too tight around your feet and legs as that would detract from the flexibility it would offer. On the other hand, they must not be too loose so that they slop behind you as you walk. This would lead to blisters, uncomfortable feet and potentially risking falling over and injuring yourself.

Red Bottom Shoes: Why Are They So Hot?

Red bottom shoes are today considered the height of fashion among fashion conscious women all over the world, thanks to a great job done by fashion designer Christian Louboutin, the original designer of these stylish pumps. Though they are now available in quite a wide variety of styles, colors and textures, they all have the characteristic red sole that mark them as a “Louboutin,” or red bottom shoe.

Christian Louboutin set out in the early 1990’s to create a line of fashionable footwear that would help any woman look incredibly sexy, with long legs accentuated by his high heel creations, thus bringing stilettos back into high fashion after they had all but been forgotten. The red sole shoes have become such a trademark of Christian Louboutin that his company has even filed a patent on the design, so that they cannot legally be copied by anyone else.

Louboutin’s shoe designs have won so many awards in the fashion industry, even climbing to the very top of the Luxury Brand Status Index, an industry rating that is highly respected and sought after in the fashion business. Red bottom shoes, in fact, rose to the top of the “LBSI” (Luxury Brand Status Index) for three consecutive years in a row, just a couple years ago. This is quite unheard of for a line of footwear!

Perhaps because of their extraordinary popularity, the so-called red bottom shoes have at times become difficult to find at local department stores that carry high end fashion footwear, even in the largest of cities, and especially at a reasonable price. This has led many fashion conscious women to search online on the Internet to find these luxurious shoes… and those looking for the shoes at an affordable price have had no other choice but to look online for a reasonably-priced Christian Louboutin shoe.
